Paithani is the famous saree of Maharashtra. It is said that in the time of the great Maratha kings, real gold thread was used to embroider these sarees. These sarees are usually found in the Maharashtrian wedding ceremonies.

Sambalpuri Sarees

Sambalpuri or ‘Ikat’ is the pride of Odisha / Orissa. This pure handloom sarees is available in cotton, silk, and taussor. The Sambalpuri sari is made from fabric woven on a hand-loom and is popular throughout India. 

Kantha Saree

The name Kantha is associated with the embroidery, not the fabric used in the saree. Kantha embroidery is all about decorative motifs with running stitch. That is why the cloth has running stitches all over and has lovely floral, folk, animal and bird motifs. Kantha art keeps rural women of West Bengal engaged, leading to wonderful sarees that show their hard work and labor.


Banarasi Saree

Banarasi silk sarees are famous because for their colors and texture. These sarees often have heavy golden embroidery and are popular bridal sarees in North India.
