In India, weddings are a big deal. Indian wedding ceremonies are absolutely fun to attend. They are well planned for more than a year and consist of different ceremonies. Indian weddings usually stretch for days, sometimes even weeks.

But the fun, the entertainment, and the celebrations cannot be matched. Various ceremonies such as engagement, Haldi ceremony, mehndi ceremony, baarat, wedding, and receptions are again followed by post – wedding functions keep everyone extremely busy.

In the next few posts, I’ll take you on a ride through the various ceremonies in Indian wedding and how to rock your look for these ceremonies.

Let’s start the journey with engagement ceremony. In this post, I will just be giving an overview of the engagement ceremony followed by what attire you can wear.

In western countries, engagement usually refers to the time when a person goes down on his knees, pulls a ring out of his pocket and asks their beloved to marry them. Thereafter, they declare to the world that they are engaged. Throwing an engagement party isn’t a compulsion.

But Indian scenario is a bit different. Engagement ceremony is one such ceremony which marks the beginning of the wedding concord. It is also known as the sagai ceremony or ring ceremony. It is one of the first ceremonies that takes place between the two families and the would-be bride and groom.

If you are invited to an engagement ceremony, here is how you can rock your look:

Saree

Saree is a solution to every dressing problem. Draping a saree isn’t difficult. For engagement parties, a simple saree with vibrant colors is the perfect catch. Other than the immediate family members of the bride-groom, no one else usually wears heavy saree’s.

Jewelry

Wear jewelry matching your saree. If you can’t find a matching set of jewelry, go for anything your complements your saree.

Footwear

Saree’s usually needs heels. But, Indian weddings have a lot of dancing. So wearing flats won’t be a crime.

Accessories

Accessorizing yourself is considered to be an integral part of looking the best. Without proper accessories, no ensemble can be complete.
Your look will be incomplete without a perfect hairdo. Saree’s look the best with the hair let down. There are many accessories that can help you stand out and look elegant.
